I
refuse
to
exhaust myself
in
you.
to
wither mutely
in
the red
fortifications
of my heart.
to
gag my senses
and
drape salty layers of
endless
white over
my
landscape,
ocean
and sky.
to
hem my soul
in
the sodden corners
of
material darknesses.
to
lose the
little
that
I possess
in
the
illusion
that
I'll gain
a
lot of that
which
I do not
require.
I
refuse.
to
evaporate
from
my own
eyes.
I
simply
re-fuse.
Fuse
with
the breeze
dipping
into blades of grass.
Drip
with
thick clouds
moving
heavily
over
golden wheat fields.
Blend
with
the sun's warm rays
in
February's winter.
Mingle
with
profoundly sudden
blooming
of coral jasmine.
Undulate
with
the giant white whales
in
their ancient,
often
mute,
existence.
